Press Release: Recall Gascon Now to Remember Victims of Anti-Semitism Attacks

West Hollywood, CA – On Saturday, June 26th at 3 PM, the committee Stop the Madness: Support Recalling District Attorney Gascon Now in conjunction with Asian Industry B2B will be gathering in front of Sushi Fumi at 359 N. La Cienega Blvd in Los Angeles to remember the victims of last month’s attacks on the Jewish diners outside the restaurant. The attack came at the height of tensions in Israel with Hamas.

Speaking at the event will be Mihran Kalaydjian a neighborhood council advocate, voice in the Jewish community, and co-chair of Stop the Madness: Support Recalling District Attorney Gascon Now. Since DA Gascon took office in December of last year prosecution of hate incidents has been largely halted.

Earlier this year at a Jewish Temple in Korea Town there was an act of vandalism in which the temple was defaced with a spray-painted message that said, “I hate your race!!”As the year progressed the number of hate incidents and crimes would only increase. It rose to the point of concern for LA County Sheriff Villanueva expressed his disappointment in a failure to see one such incident taking place in April from being prosecuted.

The emphasis of this event is to raise awareness that the very polices DA Gascon alleges to benefit minority communities actually are doing greater harm as experienced by the very members of those neighborhoods. Supporters are encouraging that the law is to be equitably enforced, not selectively enforced with one individual picking and choosing which laws to apply and which crimes to prosecute. History and experience expose that employing such tactics undermines a government rooted and based in rule of law.
